PKL 2023 - Match 41 - Haryana Steelers Dominate Tamil Thalaivas

In a Pro Kabaddi League Season 10 clash at the SDAT Multipurpose Indoor Stadium, the Haryana Steelers showcased their prowess, securing an impressive 42-29 victory against the Tamil Thalaivas on Monday. The Thalaivas faced their fourth consecutive loss at home this season, despite the standout performance of Sahil Gulia, who accumulated 10 tackle points.

Haryana Steelers' Early Dominance

From the outset, the Haryana Steelers demonstrated their excellent form, swiftly gaining a 5-1 lead. Both teams emphasized defensive strategies, and the Tamil Thalaivas staged an early comeback with two Super tackles, narrowing the gap to 6-7 by the 11th minute.

However, a pivotal moment occurred when Vinay executed a remarkable raid, maneuvering past defenders and inflicting an All-Out, setting the Steelers ahead at 14-7. This raid, marked by Vinay’s agility and court awareness, set the tone for the first half. The Steelers entered halftime with a substantial 18-12 lead.

The Thalaivas faced a challenging first 20 minutes, securing only four raid points. Despite the return of their ace raider Narender, the Thalaivas couldn’t capitalize, and he was eventually substituted.

Second-Half Control by Steelers

In the second half, the Haryana Steelers maintained their lead, with Shivam Patare stepping in to lead the raiding responsibilities. The Thalaivas had an opportunity to stage a comeback in the 29th minute, but Rahul Sethpal’s Super tackle thwarted their efforts, extending the Steelers’ lead to 29-20. Rahul’s outstanding performance also secured his High 5.

Haryana Steelers show of Resilient Defense and emerging victorious

Despite being reduced to three players twice in the 31st and 33rd minutes, the Steelers’ defense, anchored by Rahul and Jaideep Dahiya, produced Super tackles to thwart the Thalaivas’ advances. With a commanding 35-22 lead and five minutes remaining, the Steelers maintained control. The Thalaivas made attempts to narrow the deficit, but Mohit’s decisive Super tackle secured a resounding victory for Manpreet Singh’s side, marking the Steelers’ biggest win of the season with a 13-point margin.
