PKL 2023 - Match 29 - Bengal Warriors and U.P. Yoddhas Battle to a Thrilling Tie

In a riveting encounter at the Shree Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex in Pune, Bengal Warriors and U.P. Yoddhas engaged in an exhilarating 37-37 tie during their Pro Kabaddi League Season 10 clash on Monday. Notably, this marked the second tied game of the season, and intriguingly, the Warriors found themselves in both deadlock situations.

Initial Exchange of Dominance

The scoreboard mirrored the intense competition, revealing a game where the two teams remained closely matched throughout. Surender Gill initiated U.P. Yoddhas with a spectacular Super Raid, setting the tone for a fierce battle. Bengal Warriors responded emphatically with impactful performances from Maninder Singh and Nitin Kumar, maintaining the equilibrium.

Strategic Plays and Yoddhas' Initial Lead

Pardeep Narwal, the Yoddhas’ skipper, patiently awaited his turn and eventually contributed to his team’s lead after 12 minutes. Despite occasional reductions in the Yoddhas’ strength to four men, the Warriors’ raiders struggled to capitalize on these opportunities. Nitesh Kumar’s adept tackles and Vijay Malik’s bonus points propelled the Yoddhas to a four-point lead, concluding the first half at 18-14.

Dynamic Second Half Unfolds

The second half intensified the thrill as Gurdeep executed an ankle hold to halt Maninder, securing a crucial Super Tackle for the Yoddhas. Although initially trailing, the Warriors orchestrated a remarkable turnaround when Shrikant Jadhav secured a crucial All-Out. Exploiting a defense of two, Shrikant strategically navigated the mat, securing a slender lead for the Warriors at 24-23.

However, Surender Gill swiftly countered, launching a Super Raid that not only reclaimed the lead for the Yoddhas but also marked his Super 10 achievement. Riding on Surender’s raiding prowess, the Yoddhas further diminished the Warriors to just one player, with Nitin eventually succumbing on the mat. With five minutes remaining, the Yoddhas held a 35-30 advantage.

In the final minute, both teams garnered a point each, culminating in a thrilling draw.
