Pro Kabaddi League or famously known as PKL 2023, saw a captivating display of skill and strategy in Match-5 between Puneri Paltan and defending champions Jaipur Pink Panthers.

 

Puneri Paltan emerged victorious, stunning defending champions Jaipur Pink Panthers with a 37-33 triumph at the EKA Arena by TransStadia in Ahmedabad on Monday. The dynamic duo of Arjun Deshwal (17 points) and Aslam Inamdar (10 points) showcased stellar performances, securing a memorable win for Puneri Paltan.

Puneri Paltan took control early in the game, surging to a 6-3 lead. Iranian all-rounder Mohammadreza Chiyaneh set the tone by trapping V Ajith Kumar in the sixth minute, demonstrating Puneri Paltan’s defensive prowess.

Despite Puneri Paltan’s initial lead, Jaipur Pink Panthers fought back, with Arjun Deshwal posing a constant threat. Ajith Kumar’s crucial raid in the 14th minute turned the tide, inflicting an All-Out and giving the Panthers a 14-10 lead—their first lead of the game.

Arjun continued his stellar performance, securing points in successive raids and achieving his 36th Super 10 in Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) career. The Panthers maintained a four-point lead at halftime, with Arjun’s consistent contributions.

The second half witnessed a dramatic turnaround as Puneri Paltan, led by Aslam Inamdar, mounted a solid fightback. Aslam’s two-point raid and Mohammadreza Chiyaneh’s impeccable double thigh hold on Arjun resulted in an All-Out, narrowing the deficit to two points at 21-23.

Puneri Paltan continued their resurgence, with Aslam’s successful raids and Sanket Sawant’s crucial tackle on Ajith leveling the score at 25-25 in the 30th minute. Mohammadreza Chiyaneh’s contributions, including a tackle and a smart pursuit raid, paved the way for another All-Out, giving Puneri Paltan a commanding six-point lead.
