IPL 2024 Auction, is scheduled to take place on 19th December, in Dubai, where a total of 1,166 players (830 Indian, 336 Foreign players) and will be available for buying for the 10 IPL franchises, for the vacant 77 slots in their teams.

Ahead of the IPL 2024 season, BCCI had chosen to conduct a mini-auction, deviating from the traditional mega-auction format. Unlike mega-auctions, where franchises are limited in player retentions, the mini-auction allowed teams to retain any number of players. This approach adds a dynamic element to team composition and strategic planning.

No Restrictions on Player Retention
For the IPL 2024 Auction, there are no restrictions on the number of players that franchises can release or retain. Teams will have the freedom to decide their squad composition, with an additional INR 5 crore added to their purse. The retained and released players’ list deadline was set for November 26th, offering teams ample time for strategic decisions.
